Occasio Australia was founded in 2003 when 6 Friends discussed trying to get the distribution rights for IRN-BRU in Australia at a BBQ. The process took two years, but in early 2005 they were successful in their submission to AG Barr (IRN-BRU’s parent company) and Occasio Australia was born.

 

From its humble beginning, Occasio quickly grew into one of the largest independent beverage distribution companies in Australia. In late 2006, the company began researching and developing it’s own unique drink ranges to launch in Australia – Ami and Core – based on niches larger beverage companies have failed to target. One year on in October 2007 Ami was officially launched, with Core following in November.

 

2007 was a very busy year for the business, embarking on the first stages of becoming a publicly traded company and purchasing Wimmers Beverage Distribution. The future looks very bright for this independent beverage company, proving you don’t need to be a large multinational to make a splash in the Australian beverage market.
